Welcome to Ashland Oregon Rafting and Travel!
 |
Ashland is a northwest cultural center surrounded by national forests, beautiful mountains, and rushing streams. The town is home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Wineries, and incredible whitewater rafting. Within a hundred-mile radius of Ashland is a mind-boggling array of natural playgrounds: the spectacular coast, 14,000’ Mt Shasta, Redwood and Crater Lake National Parks, and numerous wilderness areas.
The following are reviews, advice, and stories about Ashland, The Rogue River Valley, the surrounding area, and Ashland Oregon rafting information from the staff and friends of Momentum River Expeditions.

The Black Sheep is one of Ashland local’s favorites. Â It is a genuine English style pub that serves beer, spirits and authentic English fare.
Furnished with big tables, a comfy couch, a fire place and a dart room, “the sheep” is a great place to meet friends for happy hour or for dinner and a game of darts. Â Lately some of us have been trying our hand at darts while sipping black and tans and enjoying a big plate of English “chips”. Â (pete is not very good at darts by the way!)
The Black Sheep sits above the plaza and has a great view of downtown. It also happens to be the best place in town to get a frothy pint of Guinness!

The Dragonfly Restaurant is one of our favorites in town! Â It is the best for a lazy Sunday morning breakfast. Â Robyn loves the artichoke scramble and Pete always orders the breakfast tamales. Â If you head in for an evening meal don’t forget to get a piece of the flourless chocolate cake, after a filling Buddha Bowl of course. Â The Dragonfly also has a full bar and is walking distance to everything downtown. Â Definitely worth stopping in for a bite!

Liquid assets sits right in the heart of downtown Ashland, steps away from the Shakespeare Festival. Â It is one of Ashland’s newer establishments and offers a full menu, extensive wine list and local art and music. Â The bar is comfortable and nice with bar seating as well as large, soft chairs and sofas so you can enjoy your glass of wine while feeling the comforts of home. Â Located right on N. Main, Liquid Assets is the perfect stop for a glass of wine with friends or a light meal before a show. Â It is the place to be on Ashland’s First Friday Art Walk for some great local art and a delicious glass of vino; the perfect combination!

This one goes under “Our favorite watering holes section”.
Caldera Tap House is the local hang out with award winning beers, simple comfort and large open deck. The bar hosts weekly music events including open mics and local bluegrass jams. It is located just off the main drag and sits next to Ashland Creek.
They offer the standard bar menu, a full bar and have great happy hour specials. We love heading out to the deck with a pint after a great day on the mountain, river, trail, etc.
Let’s go have a pint at the Caldera Tap House!

The Thai Pepper is one of Ashland’s best loved restaurants. It is scenically located along Ashland Creek right off of Main St. and is only minutes to the Shakespeare Festival and local shops.
A recent dinner at the restaurant proved, yet again, to be enjoyably delicious. We had Chicken Sate with peanut sauce, Pad Mee with Black Tiger Prawns and Chicken and Seafood Red Curry. After this yummy meal and a couple of glasses of wine we were definitely very satisfied diners. Mmmmm…..
Thai Pepper has a full bar and outdoor seating along the creek during the summer. It is a great place to eat and has always been a local favorite!

The historic Ashland Springs Hotel is Ashland’s most prominent landmark. The hotel was built in 1925 and served as the town’s luxurious accommodations for travelers between San Francisco and Portland.
The hotel is a nine story, 70 room facility with an adjoining restaurant, dining rooms, conference halls, gardens and day spa. The rooms are cozy and beautiful with full baths and flat screen TV’s. The hotel sits one block from the Shakespeare festival and in the center of Ashland’s many restaurants and shops. The hotel is also pet friendy, offers an extended continental breakfast, concierge service, late night snacks during summer months, wireless internet, parking, access to a fitness room and offers discounted rates at Waterstone Spa & Salon and has a business center.
I was recently gifted a night at the historic hotel and was treated to the simple luxuries of its famous reputation. I walked one block to dinner at a local restaurant and then half a block to a play. What a priveledge!
My experience at the hotel was wonderful and the next time I need “a night away”, I will head downtown to the Ashland Springs.
